Happy Birthday, Agatha Christie
Posted By Traveler on 15. September 2010
If the Grand Old Dame of Crime Fiction, Dame Agatha Christie, DBE, would still be with us today, it would be her 120th birthday. Dame Agatha Christie has left a mark on the world of literature like very few others.
From a Dieselpunk perspective, Agatha Christie has provided wonderful inspirational stories set during the Golden Age of Travel. The novels which immediately come to mind are Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, Murder in Mesopotamie and Death in the Clouds. The first two have also been turned into excellent movies starring Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot.
In any case, the world of literature would be a lot less grand if it had not been for Dame Agatha Christie. She has become a legend, just like her most famous characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. SO tonight, let’s drink a toast to her genious.
